Frequently Asked Questions
Berryville Water Department FAQ’s
What are your office hours?
We are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1p.m. to 5 p.m. (Closed for lunch)
What happens if I have a leak?
You must contact a plumber to get it fixed as soon as possible. Once the leak has been fixed, please contact us. If it did not leak into the sewer system, we may be able to adjust some of the sewer charges off.
How do I know if my toilet is leaking?
A constantly running toilet can cause tens of thousands of gallons to pass through your meter over the course of a month. If you know your toilet is leaking, fix it immediately! The following tips can help you determine if this is your high-usage problem:
1. Place a dye tablet, food coloring, milk, half & half, or milk of magnesia into a toilet tank full of water. Wait for a few minutes and see if it seeps down into the bowl area. If it does, you will need to repair or replace the flapper valve.
2. If you have a two-piece toilet (separate tank and bowl), take some toilet paper and work it into the open area between the tank and bowl and check for water prior to and after flushing. If it is dry prior to flushing, recheck again after flushing. If it is wet, this will denote a leak during the flush cycle.

Accounts that are not paid by this time will be disconnected at 8:00 a.m. on the next business day. It is NOT procedure for anyone to notify you that your water is being turned off.
A $25.00 reconnect fee will be charged to your account per trip for any call to such premises by a city employee that is necessary because of the nonpayment of the water/sewer bill. The reconnect fee and balance of the bill must be paid before service can be resumed.
