Luther Owens Shooting Range
LUTHER OWENS SHOOTING RANGE
Luther Owens Shooting Range is located at 1300 Chafin Road at the base of Saunders Heights’ eastern flank. This park was established by the City in 1974 in order to provide a shooting range for the Saunders Memorial Muzzle Load Gun Shoot.
For a nominal fee, this public range offers both rifle and pistol ranges, as well as a rental cabin for gatherings and parties.
Shooting range fees are $20 per year, or $2 per day. Hours of operation are 8am-5pm during the winter and 8am-7pm during the summer.
There are four pistol ranges at the top of the complex. The rifle range is 210 yards with 25 yard markers up to the 200 yard mark. Target stands are available on both rifle and pistol ranges.
Public restrooms are available during the summer months but closed during the winter.
Cabin rental is available from the end of April through the beginning of October and rental times must be between the hours of 7am-11pm. The rental fee is $60.00 per day with a deposit of $200. Cabin is equipped with kitchen, large open meeting room, and mens and womens restroom.
